A dear friend of mine, Chris, was injured in 2007 in a terrible motorcycle accident. He and his wife were hit by a driver who pulled out in front of them. Chris was in the hospital with some pretty significant injuries. He is a police officer for a local police department and was unable to work due to his injuries. Here are a couple of photographs of his motorcycle and the vehicle that hit him:

Chris belongs to a group called The Renegade Pigs Motorcycle Club a non for profit organization comprised entirely of sworn public safety personnel. While raising money for Chris and his family in the wake of his accident, his friend Raul Cervantes was seriously injured in an accident the day before Chris' benefit. Raul is a Crestwood firefighter/medic. He was hit by a non attentive driver. He suffered numerous injuries most severely severing his spinal cord. He is now confined to a wheel chair and paralyzed from the waist down. The Renegade Pigs Motorcycle Club is trying to raise money to help if not purchase a handicap equipped van and make the necessary renovations to his home to make it wheel chair accessible. The club also has a Tax ID # that can be used if you should choose to make a tax deductible donation.

Everlasting Memories has teamed up with The Renegade Pigs Motorcycle Club... we are trying to raise money for this family who is in dyer need of our help. Everlasting Memories is donating a Slide Show worth $300 to benefit this family.

Chris is selling fundraiser tickets for $20/piece. The benefit will be held in Illinois at "BOURBON STREET" on 04-19-2009. There will be a seperate fundraiser for him held in Indiana to be announced in the area of US30 and US41 on 04-18-2009 with discount hotel rooms nearby and shuttle bus service to and from the BOURBON STREET event on the 19th. I will post the Indiana information as soon as it becomes availabe to me.

Now that the holidays are over, we at Everlasting Memories have decided to run another contest on the blog. This will be a "Love Is" theme as Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. Are you looking for a truly unique way to tell that special someone how much they mean to you? What better way than by giving them a gift from the heart? A gift that lasts a lifetime! I usually do not speak of my personal life on my blog, as this is where I post things related to my business, but I wanted to tell you all the reason for the lack of posts and contests lately. I had a death in my family and had to take some time off for that. I have been consumed with family emergencies for the last few years! My Uncle was 44 and passed away on November 10, 2008 from a massive heart attack. I had another Uncle who passed away 5 months before {in June} at the age of 48 of a heart attack and another Uncle in January 2007 who died from Cancer at the age of 50. And my Aunt died in December of 2006. Last year, I lost both of my grandmothers 6 days apart. So needless to say, my family has been through a lot over the last couple of years. I do hope that you all will understand my absence lately.

Now on to business news: The holiday season is very busy for Everlasting Memories, so there will not be any contests until January. I am now offering Photo Announcements... for any occasion.

Re-Vamped

If you haven't already noticed, the Everlasting Memories website { http://everlastingmemoriesllc.net/} has been completely re-done! I tried to make it more user friendly and easier to navigate. For those of you having trouble viewing the slide-shows on the website, I have added a 10 second buffer so there should be limited or no interruption. I have also posted pricing on the website so that those of you who had questions about the prices will be able to go directly to the site for that information. I have done away with packages and offered a per picture fee...this will make it easier for people who do not have 100 photos to put into a slide show. Over the next couple of weeks, you will see some changes on the blog as well.

Area Flooding

We have been bailing water for the past few days since the torrential downpour that Mother Nature decided to bestow upon us. Thanks to Hurricane Ike for all the rain!
For those of you who frequent the blog that are not from Northwest Indiana or the Chicago-land area, I thought I would post some photos of the flooding that has been going on in our area. These were taken by me on Sunday. This is looking out my sliding glass door at a retention ditch behind my house. This ditch NEVER used to fill, but look what happened.
